In any other case, here is the final guide for IRC noobs how to register and authenticate in IRC and our channels.

Why should you do so?

Beeing registered and Authed means that you are really a part of our community and that you are considered a regular. It also allows you to use lots of special functions given by IRC. Getting your IRC stuff in line is the first step to make your way to lil admin or to have at least a chance to be considered to be a possible candidate for the next recruitment round. Furthermore it simply shows that you identify yourself with our community and enjoy to hang around with our members and regulars.

1. Download the MIRC program here.
2. Install it on your machine and run the program.
3. You are asked to register or to continue, click whatever you want.
4. A window MIRC options pops up...fill in name, email, nickname and alternative.
5. Hit servers at the category bar on the left side of the server window and then choose RANDOM GAMESURGE server
6. In the category bar options mark boxes 1,2 and 4
7. Other options can be set later, click ok and then the connect icon (left side of the icon bar) or choose FILE/CONNECT
8. MIRC favorites pops up...clear the box below to avoid that window when you start IRC next time, click ADD and enter:
channel: #|BOSS|
mark "JOIN ON CONNECT" and click JOIN

FIRST STEP DONE, WELCOME IN OUR CHANNEL!!!!!!!!!

9. Now go to www.gamesurge.net and choose Account Registration (top right corner of the website). Fill in the account name of your choice and a valid email adress. After the registration you recieve an email, containing a password and some information how to AUTH and how to change your cryptic password. AUTH means you identify yourself to the IRC network and prove that you are authenticated to use the account that was created.
10. Whenever you restart MIRC,you have to enter the following line: /authserv AUTH [YourAccountName] [YourPassword] . To avoid typing it everytime, click on TOOLS/OPTIONS/, then the already known option window pops up again (see step 4), choose CONNECT/OPTIONS and then click on perform
11. Mark the box "PERFORM ON CONNECT", fill in the AUTH line from step 10 and hit ok. Hit ok once more and restart MIRC....
12. After restarting, it should automatically join the choosen server (gamesurge), the channel (#|BOSS|) and it should read AuthServ- I recognize you. in the server dialog window. As soon as you are added as a peon or higher in our channel you will automatically get a + in front of your name, that means you are voiced and a registered member of our channel.

Have a look at the other options. You can adjust lots of things within IRC (logging, messages and so on), if something doesnt work feel free to ask one of the ladies or guys in the channel.
